The historic Quinta do Salgueiro, originally a private hideaway, is a dream of serene peace. Worked by artisans who almost a century ago magically transformed a rugged and arid hillside of the farm, into a real charm with unforgettable landscapes.

About our Home

The farm preserves the flavor of its agricultural heritage. In 2007 Margarida Junqueiro created this unique environment. From a country house dating from the 1900s, she converted it into a sophisticated tourist house. A few minutes from the River Douro Internacional, you can enjoy wonderful well-marked hiking, bicycle tours, wine tasting and other attractions.

With an area of 8 ha with views that cover undulating foothills, full of vineyards, almonds and olive groves up to the Douro River Valley, you can charge your batteries both in your room and outside or walking around the farm.

Quinta do Salgueiro is your next «Extraordinary Getaway». Next to the village of Freixo de Espada à Cinta, between mountains and rivers Freixo is beautiful at any time of the year. Famous for its architecture, crafts, attractions, it is a colorful and historic heritage. The birthplace of one of the greatest writers of Portuguese literature, Abílio Manuel GUERRA JUNQUEIRO (1850-1920), make this the perfect destination for your next vacation.
